“My advice is, move with love”

Zahra Al Hilaly on what young people can bring to the table

When activist Zahra Al Hilaly first learned about the 1995 Beijing World Conference on Women, she was a member of the Beijing+25 Youth Task Force and saw the event for what it was: a revolution. And she knew she wanted to be part of this historic movement. “There is so much work that still needs to be done,” she says. Al Hilaly knows that young people need to lead these movements now. Her advice to anyone wanting to get involved? “Move with love. Move with this understanding that advocacy requires every individual. And sometimes, it even requires us to make steps to communities that have excluded our own, and we can’t do that without love.”
